Acupuncture is the insertion of fine non-hollow needles into your skin to help your body heal and rebalance itself.
How does your practitioner know where to put the needles? Acupuncturists use Traditional East Asian Medicine to diagnose and formulate treatments, blending philosophy with practical experience.
In addition to acupuncture, treatments can involve Chinese Herbal Medicine based on the needs of the patient.
At the first visit, we spend some time talking about your health condition, health history, and treatment goals. Afterwards, and at return visits, you lay down on a comfortable massage table for treatment. Needles are inserted into the skin and sometimes into the muscles primarily of your arms, legs, and often the crown of your head.
Contrary to first-time expectations, many people find the experience relaxing! We give you about 30 minutes to rest with the needles in place, and most people experience moderate to profound relaxation, mental calm and pain relief.
This is the art of treatment planning. It really depends on your condition and your needs. It helps if you can come in once (sometimes twice) a week for a few weeks to make a change and let your body settle into the new way of being. At that point, many people return once or twice a month for continued care as maintenance.
